Online Safety

Protecting our children in the digital world

At Crondall Primary School, the safety and well-being of our children is paramount and this extends to their online experiences. Recognising the increasing amount of time children spend online, we are committed to equipping them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely.

Below is  the CEOP Report Abuse button. This provides a direct link to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre (CEOP), a division of the UK Police dedicated to online safety. CEOP offers a wealth of resources and information for parents, teachers, and children, covering a range of e-safety topics.

If you or your child have any concerns about online safety at home, we encourage you to use the CEOP button or visit their website directly. Whether you need advice or wish to report an incident, CEOP is there to help.

Our approach to online safety education: The 4Cs of online safety

We believe in empowering children to make safe choices. Our computing curriculum includes comprehensive e-safety education, teaching children about the 4Cs of online safety:

  • Content: Understanding that online content (words, images, videos) can be harmful. This includes illegal, inappropriate, or harmful material like fake news. We teach children to critically evaluate online information.
  • Contact: Recognising the risks of interacting with others online, including peer pressure, inappropriate advertising, and the danger of people posing as something they are not. We emphasise the importance of safe online communication.
  • Conduct: Learning about responsible online behaviour. This includes understanding the impact of online bullying, the risks of sharing or receiving messages/images and the consequences of inappropriate online actions. We promote respectful online interactions.
  • Commerce: Being aware of online risks related to scams, phishing, and inappropriate advertising. We teach children to be cautious online.

Our computing curriculum integrates these 4Cs into practical lessons and activities, providing children with the tools they need to stay safe online.

We believe that by working together, we can create a safer online environment for all our children.
