Starting school September Year R
Starting school is a big milestone, and we are here to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible for both you and your child. Here is what to expect as your child begins their journey at Crondall Primary School.
After Places Are Allocated
Welcome email: You will receive an email with key information about induction events and next steps.
During the Summer Term
Our Transition
Rainbow Class Rendezvous – Wednesday 11th June at 3:45pm – 4:45pm
- Meet your child’s class teacher, teaching assistant, and members of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Connect with other families.
- Explore the Reception classroom and learning environment.
- Browse second-hand uniforms available for purchase.
Stay-and-Play Sessions (children only) – Thursday 3rd July and Friday 4th July at 1:45pm – 2:45pm
- Your child will attend two sessions to meet their classmates and get comfortable in the classroom setting.
Nursery Liaison
- We work closely with local nurseries to learn about each child’s needs and ensure a smooth transition.
Start of the Autumn Term
Gentle Start Schedule
- Virtual home visits Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September - We will arrange short video calls to introduce ourselves, answer any questions, and help your child feel more at ease.
- Week commencing Monday 8th September - Children attend either a morning or afternoon in their house groups. Whole class attends a morning session with lunch to begin adjusting to a full day.
Part-Time Option
- We offer part-time attendance, where needed, in consultation with our Senior Leaders.
Parent Information Meeting
Held in September to introduce the curriculum and share tips for supporting phonics and reading at home.
